Photo Credit: Warner Bros. Pictures Warwick Davis , who will reprise his role of Professor Filius Flitwick from the Harry Potter films in the upcoming HBO reboot, recently teased how the TV show will be different from the movies. In a recent interview, the English actor shared that the show would explore the story of the books in a more in-depth manner compared to the movies, which offered a truncated version of the narrative. He also promised that the series would be a “faithful” adaptation of the source material. Warwick Davis on what to expect from Harry Potter reboot series While speaking to Time Radio , Davis revealed that he was currently filming the Harry Potter TV show. Although he didn’t divulge information about the series’ plot, he said that the creatives were “retelling” the stories told by the films, “but with more depth and detail than has been seen before.” He added, “They’re very faithful adaptations of the book” (via Deadline ). The Willow actor noted that since they were telling the same story previously told on-screen, he and other actors experienced “similar moments” on set. He further stated, “But it’s weird being back in the same studios again, doing it all again, because Leavesden is where we shot the films.” Davis’ comments bring some optimism to fans of the books, who have reportedly complained about the films starring Daniel Radcliffe skipping over major story elements present in the source material. The Harry Potter series is scheduled for a 2027 release. Filming for Season 1 began in July 2025 and is reportedly expected to last until Spring 2026. Meanwhile, production on Season 2 is expected to begin a few months later. In a press interview in November 2025, HBO chairman and CEO Casey Bloys revealed that writing for Season 2 had begun. He affirmed plans to film both seasons back-to-back, noting that while there would be a “break” between the productions of both seasons, he and the creatives would ensure there wasn’t “a huge gap” (via Deadline ). Besides Davis, the Harry Potter series will star Dominic McLaughlin, Alastair Stout, Arabella Stanton, John Lithgow, Nick Frost, Janet McTeer, and Paapa Essiedu, among others.
