CDC, Department of Transportation, and Department of Energy employees were affected. Staff were instructed to make changes in line with revised policy prohibiting certain language.

One CDC employee shared frustration, stating, “In my decade-plus years at CDC, I’ve never been told what I can and can’t put in my email signature.” The directive is part of a broader effort to eliminate DEI initiatives from federal discourse.
