Kremlin bot network launched fakes about biolabs in Ukraine after statement by former US Director of National Intelligence
The Kremlin bot network "Matryoshka" spread a series of fake videos and publications about American biolaboratories in Ukraine after the statement by former US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard. The AntiBot4Navalny project, which specializes in finding disinformation campaigns, told The Insider about this. The reason was Gabbard's publications: before resigning, she stated that she had "declassified" data on US funding of more than 120 biolaboratories in 30 countries, including Ukraine. The attached file stated that there were at least 40 such laboratories in Ukraine, where they worked with pathogens of tuberculosis, plague, Ebola, and so on. After that, "Matryoshka" released at least six videos disguised as Western media and organizations, including The Insider, Deutsche Welle, Politico, and Reporters Without Borders. They claimed that France allegedly tests drugs on Ukrainian orphans, and Gabbard's statement itself is compared to the revelation of truth about Nazi Germany's concentration camps. They also forge front pages of major print publications, for example, The Guardian, Le Figaro, and The Globe and Mail newspapers. The topic of "biolaboratories" in Ukraine has long been used by Russian propaganda. At the same time, the laboratories in question are part of international programs to control disease outbreaks, and the US involvement in their funding was not a secret.
