Biblestr is live!
Okay, #Biblestr now has a fully printed, fully-versed Bible, with all of the wikilink-macro tags. I also included a context-sensitive hyperlink to Bible Gateway’s website, as a fallback for missing or copyrighted versions. You can expand the panes on desktop.
A special thanks to @mleku and @cloud fodder for helping me figure out the most-performant tags and making sure the relays can handle this craziness. #GitCitadel has the best suppliers, by far.
Thank you @The Beave , for testing. I know that this is a good work you have been eager to get done. Bro, same. 🫂
If you search for anything chapter-sized or smaller, it’s surprisingly fast, even if it’s multiple passages from multiple books. And it gets faster and more-complete, with each search, as I cache the pages in a browser database. Keep searching long enough and you will have downloaded the entire Bible. 📚
This is the PoC, and the final beta test for the relay filters. I will update #Jumble Imwald 🌲, as well, and then we do the final overhaul of #Alexandria and #Gutenberg (v1.0) can finally be released for beta testing. Only with 1 year delay. 😂🙈 This was sooo hard, you have no idea.
Thank you, for your patience and encouragement. 💕
GN and here are some pretty pics from
Torahstr (if you prefer the OT) https://torahstr.imwald.eu/book%3A%3A%20Exodus%2027
and Biblestr (for the NT fans) https://biblestr.imwald.eu/book%3A%3A%20revelations%205

(All themes have light/dark mode.)
Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning
Congratulations, and thank you for all your hard work on this very important project… 🙏💜💖
Now all I need to do is figure out how to use it properly.😜🤣😂
Zap!
Nice, good job! :)
Some things:
- You have to scroll-right on mobile. Unlike Jumble and Alexandria, Wikistr is an unapologetic desktop-focused app, and that’s why it’s cool. If you have a wide screen, you can open up lots of panels, and make some wider, and it turns into the document version of a Bloomberg terminal. Credit for this design goes to @fiatjaf.
- The different Wikistr themes have different looks, help text, and different relays, for the document search and the social interactions. #Quranstr uses Nostrabia, for instance, whilst #Biblestr focuses on Christpill. The basic #Wikistr has been left secular. I am looking for a Jewish relay, but haven’t yet found one, so #Torahstr uses generic ones.
- All have light and dark themes. The light themes are so much prettier, but I know you will all use the dark ones.
- All themes take your personal relay list into account, and share a few document relays, so you can just pick the theme you like and use that.
- We printed the Bible first because Gutenberg did and he’s the inspiration for our Nostr printing press. We will proceed to print all other open-license books we can find, including the Torah, Quran, classical authors, English literature, etc. They will all be searchable, with this mechanism.
- This wikistr can find and render kinds 300023, 30041, 30817, 30818, 30040, and the comments are kind 1111 and you can vote at the top of the panels, using the up/down arrow buttons. Only kinds 30817/818 are in the left-most panel feed, to keep it uncluttered and true to the origins.

The #bookstr 📖 macro is hierarchical. If you find a section or verse event, in the wild, you can just drop the section tags, to find the whole chapter, or the section and chapter tags, to find the whole book. This means you can always backtrack to the entire publication, from just one quoted line or paragraph.
We are going to be having these tags in all of our publications, so you will be able to “Bible-search” and “Bible-cite” any of our books!
I love books. Name checks out. 😎
