YUTA: Passenger safety is a priority in assessing the realization of tourist arrangements
The National Association of Travel Agencies (YUTA) announced today, regarding political and security developments in Iran and surrounding countries, that in the current circumstances it is necessary to act in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Tourism, the Law on Consumer Protection (ZOP), as well as the general travel conditions that are an integral part of the tourist arrangement contract.
YUTA: Passenger safety is a priority in assessing the realization of tourist arrangements The National Association of Travel Agencies (YUTA) has issued guidelines concerning tourist arrangements amid political and security developments in Iran and surrounding regions. These guidelines emphasize adherence to tourism and consumer protection laws, prioritizing passenger safety when making decisions about travel arrangements. Agencies are obligated to inform passengers transparently and follow official recommendations in case of unforeseen circumstances affecting travel.
- YUTA advises travel agencies to follow tourism and consumer protection laws regarding tourist arrangements due to political and security events in Iran.
- In unforeseen circumstances affecting travel, agencies can modify or cancel arrangements if safety cannot be ensured.
- Unforeseen circumstances include security risks, political instability, or armed conflicts that threaten passenger safety.
- Agencies must prioritize passenger safety, follow Serbian government recommendations (especially from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs), and inform passengers about any changes.
- If flights are canceled, agencies must provide accommodation for up to three nights at their expense and then assist with finding accommodation at the passenger’s expense.
- Agencies should explore options like offering a refund for a canceled flight segment or assisting passengers in purchasing new tickets.
- If arrangements cannot be realized due to unavoidable circumstances, agencies must offer travelers the option to postpone, accept a substitute trip, or receive a refund.
- YUTA appeals for responsible action and mutual understanding between agencies and travelers to ensure safety and legal certainty in tourism.
