Meta Launches ‘Meta One’ Subscription Tiers for Its Apps and AI Chatbot Meta is formalizing a shift away from its purely ad-funded model, rolling out a new “Meta One” subscription ecosystem that ties together its social apps and AI chatbot under a tiered, pay‑for‑power‑features strategy.

Early rollout and consumer app subscriptions

On Wednesday, Meta began globally rolling out consumer subscriptions for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, offering “Plus” tiers that add extra features for a monthly fee. Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus are priced at $3.99 per month, while WhatsApp Plus costs $2.99 per month, unlocking perks like profile customization, super reactions, and expanded story insights for power users. These offerings are explicitly designed to give heavy users “more from their social apps” while helping Meta “diversify its revenue streams beyond advertising” as growth in mature markets slows.

Meta One branding and AI chatbot tiers

At the same time, Meta is consolidating its growing list of paid offerings under a new umbrella brand, “Meta One,” which it describes as the home for subscriptions going forward. As part of this strategy, Meta is, for the first time, selling subscriptions to its AI chatbot.

Two tiers are being introduced: Meta One Plus at $7.99 per month and Meta One Premium at $19.99 per month. Both promise expanded access to image generation, video creation, and more compute‑intensive reasoning features that will be usage‑capped for free users. The pricing is calibrated to consumer AI rivals: Meta One Premium “matches the price of ChatGPT Plus and Google AI Pro almost exactly,” while Meta One Plus “undercuts both by more than half.”

The AI plans are rolling out initially in Singapore, Guatemala, and Bolivia, with Meta stating that Meta AI will remain free for casual use even as paid tiers court frequent creators and heavy chatbot users.

Business and creator angles

Meta One also targets professionals. For businesses and creators, Meta is introducing Meta One Essential at $14.99 per month and Meta One Advanced at $49.99 per month, with the top tier including long‑requested access to human support for Instagram and Facebook pages—a service that has “historically been nearly impossible” to obtain without paying.

Meta says the new lineup won’t immediately replace its existing Meta Verified product, but acknowledges that “this could change in time,” signaling that the Meta One brand may eventually subsume earlier experiments in paid features.
