Google Launches Antigravity 2.0 Developer Platform Google used its I/O 2026 conference to turn Antigravity from a niche coding assistant into a full-fledged developer platform, while simultaneously reshaping its highest-end AI pricing. The move underscores both Google’s technical ambitions and the growing cost of serious AI development.
From coding tool to platform
Google first launched Antigravity last year as an “agentic coding” response to tools like Cursor. At I/O 2026, the company unveiled Antigravity 2.0, expanding it into a platform with a revamped desktop app, a new command-line interface (CLI), and a software development kit (SDK) for custom agents.
The updated desktop app lets developers orchestrate multiple agents, run tasks simultaneously, design custom subagent workflows, and schedule background jobs, with deep integration into Google AI Studio, Android, and Firebase. Much of this is powered by Google’s Gemini 3.5 Flash model, which Google says was co-developed using Antigravity itself.
For terminal-focused programmers, Google is introducing a new Antigravity CLI, asking existing Gemini CLI users to migrate, and launching an Antigravity SDK so developers and Google Cloud customers can build and deploy custom agents, aided by upcoming templates and export tools in AI Studio.
Pricing shake-up and industry context
Alongside the product overhaul, Google introduced an AI Ultra plan at $100 per month, promising roughly five times the usage limits of its Pro tier and reducing the top Ultra plan from $250 to $200 for 20x higher limits. Another report notes that Ultra “used to cost $249.99 per month, now starts at $100 per month,” with a $200 option that adds access to Google’s Project Genie world model, mirroring OpenAI’s $100 and $200 Pro tiers.
Enthusiasm from inside Google
Inside the company, leaders are publicly backing the rollout. Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis amplified an engineer’s anticipation, sharing: “Very excited for all the stuff the @antigravity team has been cooking :)”. That enthusiasm reflects Google’s bet that agentic platforms—rather than standalone chatbots—will define the next phase of AI development.
