The Fam Rides the Tram!
We rode the Portland Aerial Tram (the Tram), and I took some photos. The Tram is a fun little function of the city. It is one of only two commuter aerial trams in he United States. The Tram connects the main Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) campus up on Marquam Hill to the lower Souther Waterfront OHSU campus. It runs every 5 mins and is the best option for staff to get from one campus to the other, which are separated by 3300 ft horizontally and 500 ft vertically. A ride on the tram takes about 5 mins, compared to what would probably be a 20 minute car ride up or down winding roads.
We boarded at the lower campus. Here is where we board the tram.

These colorful orange wheels propelled the tram up and down the line.

Once we got to the top campus, I took some photos of the city scape. It was a blue sunny day but there was some smoke from distant forest fires making some haze.

Here is a photo of the tram coming up to the upper OHSU campus.

We walked around the hospital briefly. They had some public art in an outdoor walking and sitting area art outside, and there was one piece I found interesting. It is a sculpture, a human body with a rabbit head, and it seems to be holding a dog-esque animal. I thought the rabbit was done particularly well when looking at the details up close, and the art seemed to do a good job of conveying the feeling of care and compassion.

Here is a photo of one of the older buildings of the Marquam Hill OHSU campus. I believe it is called the Multnomah Pavilion. I thought it looked nicer than the others. Shriner’s Children Hospital is off camera to the right.

And here is a photo from inside the tram on the way back down to the lower OHSU campus.
