2. Primal faced a trouble with the Cloudflare outage 😟

GM Nostr ☀️

Some Primal services were affected by the Cloudflare outage for a few hours earlier today. Specifically, our web app, external wallet transactions, and partially our blossom media server. We are fully back up now and continue to monitor the situation. Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience.

Running services which are resistant to ddos attacks is hard without relying on providers like Cloudflare unfortunately. We are working on upgrading our infrastructure so that we are more resilient in the future. As long as we learn and improve every time as a result of these incidents, we are on the right track.

For anyone semi-new to Bitcoin, a little advice at times like this:

The amount of cope you’re about to see will be off the charts.

Blaming being early, blaming the fed, blaming influencers, blame blame blame

But the truth is, times like this are the best times to be a Bitcoiner.

Everyone who tries to make money on Bitcoin gets rekt and gives you their coins

Everyone who tries to make Bitcoin their money gets stacked and becomes the envy of their peers 2-3 years later.

We’ll probably have 1-2 years of great pricing to build our stacks (even more) and learn what Bitcoin actually is, instead of getting excited about the price.

Five years ago my wife and I started to expect children.

Three years ago we found out we would likely never be able to conceive children due to a health defect of mine.

A few months after that we were blessed with the opportunity to adopt our first son. Who we named Hank. An incredibly quick turn around thanks to our amazing adoption agency.

Two years ago tonight, after a three and a half month fight, Hank was taken from us by his Cancer.

It’s amazing, the lifetime we lived with him. It almost feels as if Hank’s life unfolded within a time pocket. That pocket became our world. When he slipped away from us, we slipped out of the pocket. Back into the reality of our vast world, with wave after wave of obligation and responsibility crashing into us.

Our time with Hank radically reshaped our lives. Hank showed us the fragility of life. Showed us strength we didn’t know we had. Possibly the most important thing he taught us is the importance of time, and how to spend it.

So tonight, I’d just like to remind everyone to hug your loved ones, and thank God for every moment you have with them. You never know when you won’t have that privilege anymore.

In loving memory of our son, Hank. Have a blessed evening, from our family to yours.

Vibecoding turned open-source software projects into a spam attack vector.

Before that you could expect high quality projects from a huge percentage of all apps, so acting on a message like “hey, I made this app, please try” was often a good use of your time.

These days there are at least 10x more of such apps, so assuming rationality the default reaction to “hey, I made this app, please try” will eventually become to not even look, or people will only look at apps from well-known creators.

Considering this it might be that rather than “democratizing” the creation of software vibecoding made it harder for a newcomer without reputation or reach to get their app in front of the eyes of others.

I really don’t understand bitcoiners who aren’t interested in Nostr.

I get that not everyone is trying to build an audience, and that money is a more pressing thing to be an early adopter for, but the “Why would I need Nostr? I’m perfectly comfortable with X” narrative sounds like a no-coiner justifying their 0% bitcoin exposure.

It especially hits weird from bitcoin content creators, when it’s clear that the hardcore, motivated bitcoiners are moving towards Nostr and not going back. Nostr is the clear and obvious future forum of bitcoin discussion, and you’re just ignoring it?

Am I too deep in the weeds here? It seems so obvious to me. Do they really just not see it?

And the less foundational knowledge and experience you have about software development, testing, systems architecture, symbolic logic, and DevOps, the faster it becomes work, and the faster the project becomes abandoned, or melts down into a buggy mess.

🌐 Relay Updates and Releases

1. Nosflare - v7.7.15

Nosflare is a serverless Nostr relay built for Cloudflare Workers using a Cloudflare D1 database and R2 storage. This update introduces faster performance through new indexes, improved query handling, expanded caching, and several database-level optimizations. Because of these changes, relay operators must run a small SQL migration to add new cache tables, follow-graph views, and timeline caches. For users, this results in noticeably quicker feeds, more accurate follow-based timelines, and overall smoother event retrieval across the relay. This was the latest release, and there were also the releases of v7.6.15 and v7.4.13 last week.
