What Nodes Actually Do
A Bitcoin full node independently verifies every transaction and block in the Bitcoin network. When you run a full node, you’re not trusting miners, exchanges, or anyone else to validate Bitcoin’s rules — you’re verifying them yourself.
The key properties:
- Full nodes reject invalid blocks even if 99% of hash rate supports them
- Full nodes enforce consensus rules, not miners
- Every full node operator is Bitcoin’s equivalent of a voter in the consensus process
